Magnet Program

Our school’s Magnet Programs provide students with unique opportunities to learn, grow, and explore their interests beyond the standard curriculum. Each program is designed around a specialized theme, giving students hands-on experiences that prepare them for success in college, careers, and life.

Our Programs

Visual & Performing Arts

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be exposed to all of the following disciplines: Visual Art, String Orchestra, Band, Theatre, and Show Choir.

When your student enters 3rd grade, they will be selected to continue in only one of our programs (their Focus class) for the remainder of their Fine Arts education. This ensures high-quality, expert instruction in their discipline.

Our Programs

Art

ART: The Visual Arts program introduces students to the elements and principles of art. Students learn line, color, texture, value, space, shape and form through different medium and materials. Drawing, painting, collage, printmaking and sculpture are explored. Emphasis, balance, harmony, variety, rhythm, movement, proportion and unity are learned through different styles and movements of art like realism, impressionism, expressionism, abstraction, conceptualism and multi-cultural techniques. Art students also enter contests, competitions and exhibitions

Show Choir

SHOW CHOIR: The students will learn to sing using solfeggio and other vocal techniques such as breathing, diction, vocal projection, stage directions and movement. Show Choir students will be exposed to different styles of choral literature such as multi-cultural, Broadway, contemporary and classical. Students who enroll in this class will be eligible to attend field trips and / or perform at school and throughout Broward County.

Theatre

THEATRE: The curriculum teaches skills for stage acting including development of voice (public speaking skills), movement, script directing, script reading and analysis, use of the stage, play writing, creative dramatics, and musical and stage performance. In addition, the fundamentals of stage design, including sound, makeup, set design, costuming, and puppetry. Students learn leadership, self-discipline, self-confidence, and group interaction skills. All Theatre students are eligible to participate in theatre workshops and field trips and perform at school and/or throughout Broward County.

Orchestra

ORCHESTRA: Students in orchestra will have the opportunity to learn and experience orchestra through a traditional orchestral setting of violins, violas, cellos and string basses, using hands-on curriculum. Students who enroll in this class will be eligible to attend field trips and/or perform at school and throughout Broward County.

Band

BAND: The band program consists of three levels of learning, beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Students who enroll in this class will be eligible to perform at school and throughout Broward County.
